I'm fairly certain Ford has sold a large fleet of Falcons (upto 2000 dedicated LPG) to Telstra. Many Telstra employees could previously choose their car as part of novated lease etc..with fleet discount prices (not refering to 100% work wagons/vans), hence many Commodores were ordered.
Many goverment vehicles are also sold for more than they pay for them, thats why they wait until they have done 40,000kms so they don't get slugged the capital gains tax? on them. Can't remember what tax it is but it hits because they buy cars without GST, sales tax etc etc and must use them for a certain amount of time before they can flog them
actually for the past 8 months it is a lot cheaper for telstra employees to lease Fords then it is Holdens by at least $2000 a year. So I guess you'll have to find another "real" conspiracy!
But ive been told that once telstra offloads there cars for new ones.. optus would buy the old telstra cars.. and the cycle goes around. telstra wants new cars, which helps the sales

I think it's capital gains tax.. They have made money on it so they class it as an income!!

Yet another useless thread, you call this cheating???
As someone who gets a work car and responsible for getting the best deal possible for the ratepayers of the Council I choose to buy a Holden fleet. Why??? Because they don't cost us any money to change over.
I change the fleet every 15k and we hope to make a profit on the next changeover even with the new model. At my previous work the Au's used to cost about 3-5k to change over after the same 15k, doesnt take long to add up. It's not Holden giving away the cars as with fleet discount the cars cost about the same. The difference is Holden dealers give more for a trade as they know they can sell the cars for more because of DEMAND, something the AU didnt have.
