Just curious... How important is appearance when it comes to relationships or friendships? Do you value personality above ALL else, meaning you would go out with someone totally hideous because they had a great personality? Or would you go the other extreme and go with someone purely based on physical attractiveness, regardless of personality? Or somewhere in the middle?

If you fell for someone's personality, but they were ugly, would their appearance change your intentions towards them? Would you be ashamed to be seen with them based on their looks? Or would you just say to hell with it and be with them regardless of what other people think? Or would you even defend your ugly partner to other people?

And if you were with someone based on their looks alone, and their personality was less than average, how long do you think you could last? Would you get bored with it eventually? Or just not care - as long as you could take them out and show them off, would that be enough?

In this day and age it seems that inner beauty doesnt count for a great deal, and that is is all about appearance. For either gender, it seems that attractiveness is only measured on the outside and what's inside is not valued enough.

It seems that too many people worry too much about what others think and not enough about what their own heart tells them.

Myself? I couldnt give a stuff about appearance. If I were to fall for someone, it would be the entire package, who they are, their personality and how they made me feel. But then, I always make decisions based on what my heart tells me and not my head....perhaps following your heart is not a good thing....

Any thoughts?

friendships, to me are based on personalities, couldn't give a stuff about looks. your not friends with someone based on how they look, however for me in a relationship there is not only one factor. I look at a whole package, personality (has to be fun and outgoing with a good sense of humour), their general character, how they make me feel and in most cases yeah i am guilty of judging by looks (not that i am easy on the eye). but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

What is ugly to some is not ugly to others. Take the P76 for example.

But I agree with you XRchic - it's how they make you feel.

When it comes to having a partner, theres gotta be a combination of both. You have to be attracted to them physically and emotionally otherwise it wont work. You cant choose your partner on looks.

Friends however, meh, I dont care how they look. A friend is a friend.,

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I give it little importance.

I think my wife is the most beautiful woman in the world. Dont give a rats what others think, she is my wife and thats all that matters to me.

There isn't much I like less about a person than to have a bag

Personally, although I think LuvinmyEB is beautiful, even if I didn't think so, I'd still be with her, because she has a great personality, awesome sense of humor, shares many of the same interests as me and is also very intelligent.

One of my ex-girlfriends only had her looks going for her, could only just work out what 1+1 equalled, she drove me nuts and our relationship didn't last - I learnt from that that personality is MUCH more important then looks.

Thankfully, IMO LuvinmyEB has both!
