I don't like the look (headlamps) of the latest model. The previous model with the rectanguler headlamps looked better.I have never driven or been in one but they are supposed to go like stink, though I've heard the earlier ones go better than the later ones. Seem like pretty good value.

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen. It said, 'Parking Fine.'So that was nice.
The styling isn't pretty, but it is fairly unique. From the side its definately a small 4 door, but from the front it doesn't look like anything else on the road. Whether its a good or bad luck is personal opinion.
Performance: 227 HP, AWD, how can you go wrong? I haven't driven one, and have heard mixed opinion from those that have. Some dislike the turbo-lag, but with the sub 6 0-60's mags have gotten out of it, that lag cannot hang around too long.
For the price, you would be VERY hard pressed to find something better.

Did'nt like it at first but now it's grown on me.
Saw one yesterday, Mat Black, those "dirty" look mags , and the letterbox hood (it was a WRX) - I loved it, and it's got the preformance to match, not to mention the grip of the almighty AWD. Great Car.
Having been fortunate enough to drive one around a dirt track, I have to admit that there's nothing like a turbo-charged AWD for grip and sheer acceleration. I can't stand the bug headlights though but put a set of rally headlights on it and take away the headlight covers (to make it look like the rally car), and it's not that bad at all. The steering is very responsive and the turbo doesn't need that much time to kick in. In saying all this, it still doesn't beat the 2001 WRX (with the rectangular headlights) STi. But of course, I haven't driven a 2002 WRX STi since it hasn't hit the country (yet)!

You should have some background before digesting our opinions.
I understand that over in the States you have only just got this car? Over here we have had the WRX for about 10 years and the previous body shape was soo much better looking. The new model is also the slowest of any of the WRX's.
We have also had the WRX STi that have at least 275hp from the factory.
The WRX has some stiff competition in its class by cars like the 200sx ( S15 Silvia ) also with a 2.0 litre turbo with similar power. And now a turbo MX5 ( Miatta) convertable,
So my opinion of the current car would be a little tainted by knowing how good the ones that came before were.
Back in 1994? when the WRX was first released over here it was the undisputed price/performance king, now lots have caught up
The other thing that taints at least my opinion of the car was the stereotypical driver of a WRX (read WANKERS)

Thought it was time to try a turbo for a change :)
Ok first thing first, since can't compare a WRX to an aussie rear drive 4 door sedan i speak entirely on hi-tech 4wd turbo market.
The WRX package wise, handling, price and quality is good but i don't like it, since day one it hasn't appealed to me. I mean sure it's got ducks guts handling but under the skin it's a $20k Impreza.
If i was in the market these group of cars, it's Skyline country anyday. For around 40k i say an R32 GTR. Better style, better mod ability, comes in a 6 cyclinder and is a bigger car.
Just my say....

Hahahaha....yeah...most of them think they're Colin McRae as soon as they get into one! I've seen so many WRXs been ruined by "ricing" it up with all these stickers and customised paint jobs that it's just ridiculous.
