Just recently i've been spending a bit of money on my car and seeing as i'm fairly young, the only reason I haven't spent even more is because the cash flow is shortening after bills and supplies. I've spent about 5-6k on my VL Turbo since I got it and was talking to a couple of mates from work and they've spend over $20k on their cars, one of them well over 50k.

So i'm just interested in what car and on average how much would you have spent on it?

Note: do not include the price of your car...

well i only got my eski about 6 months ago and it was a real fixer upper lol

so i dont know if alot of that comes under repairs but i intend to spend at least another 10 on her to get her just the way i want but knowing me it probably be more hehehehehe

I suppose the main thing is that if you are going to spend some serious money make sure its a car that you really really want to keep for a long time, continuously want to repair, and garage every night...otherwise I would suggest you are just wasting your money going for big mods as you generally never get back what you spend when it comes time to sell....

I spent $5000 on my mini fixing it up. It now sits in the shed and doesnt/cant move.
I spent about $8000 on my XF including a worked 6 and also a v8 conversion plus the usual mods, suspension, tints, 17's etc. Sold it for $1000 as I couldnt get an engineers certificate for it and the parents wanted it out of the driveway. I kept the wheels.
I have just finished spending $8000 on my EB turbocharging it. I plan to keep this car for a long time. More money will be spent on the driveline and engine strengthening and it will be a seriously fast street/strip one day.
Then there is the usual $2500-$3000 on car stereo gear that gets transferred from car to car.
Once the EB is finished Im not spending another cent on car modifications. I just bought a motorbike so If i want to go fast ill get on that.

Im 20 years old now. Its time to grow up and be sensible. But I have done it know and I have to say I enjoyed all of it. The money could have been invested more wisely, especially with the crack down on modified cars these days.

average $7k per year..Though lately the average has gone up....

well although my car doesnt look standard iv only spent about $150 on mods
that included:
- $8 for pinstriping for flames
- $60 for vynil paint for my interior,
- $10 for chrome air filter
- $45 for full sound system (2-6x9's, 2 - 4inch, & CD player)
- $40 Seat covers
i have also done alot of free mods
- LTD bonnet & grill, new boot, steering wheel, wheels, custom stickers in the interior

the rest was already on the car (lowered, engine mods)

not bad cause the car only cost $200

I know some people don't like to know, but I can't stand not knowing.
Over the last 12 Months, I've spent just under $20,000. Majority of it
on the Fairlane, and I don't regret a cent!
