Okay a standard Ka costs $15,490 RRP from the website.
I'm guessing alot of the sticker price is tax from the government, ford no exports, its a fully imported car. I guess a big slab is taken up by Ford itself, and the dealer who sells it.
I am also curious how much would it save by removing the engine and gearbox (ie not putting them in the car at the factory). Rough guesses are okay..
GST is 10% on wholesale price or one eleventh of the purchase price so at $15490 the Govt take is $1408.
I'm betting Ford wouldn't make all that much from a Ka; after you take out revenue to pay for warranty, selling/freight costs, marketing, currency differential (the Ka is made in Spain but probably paid for in English pounds; the $A is worth 35 pence or so) and then of course the cost plus profit margin for the originating factory.
I think if you shopped around you could get a base Ka for something like $14500 to 15000 drive away.
