Just curious, what sort of power (kw's) does the AC use on a motor? Would it be 2%, 5%, 10%??? or is it a fixed kw? Using my I6 as an example, what sort of difference in Kw would it make?

AC soaks up about 80-100 rpm, as for how many kw, well, I guess that varies dependant on how many RPMs your putting down.

I didn't think it made much difference , these days, with rotary compressors, compared to the old piston type compressors. My V8 has climate controlled air con, don't notice any difference. But the Festiva bogs down when the air is turned on.!!

I hardly notice a thing in the focus with the a/c on... even in the EL there was hardly any difference in the power not many kW at all

I pretty much always leave my aircon on anyhow but I just started to wonder how much power it actually took from the car. I didnt think it would have been too much either. Maybe a kw or 2?

well in my case i can feel the peroformance drop. Obviously you can notice 1-2kw so maybe 10-15 in my case?

Only way maybe to find out is to run on a dyno ?

a few years ago I was told that for the i6 it was less than 3%... never had the dyno proof but it was a guesstemate from my auto electrician
