I know this will probably get moved to the For Sale section, but I am not actually selling it yet, I am just looking for an idea as to how much I could get for my car. I am looking to maybe sell it towards the end of the year or early next year. I reckon you guys are all pretty honest and you all know about stuff like this, so I was hoping you could give me some idea, realistically, as to how much I could expect to sell it for in a private sale. I just need some ideas so I can make plans either way about a new one. If you could give me some honest idea as to what I could expect and maybe som reasons, I would appreciate it.
Oh and I am aware there will be issues because of it being manual, black and not a T, and also with the current runout/Mark II release as well.
Anyway, here it is:
May 2003 BA NA XR6
Manual
Silhouette
Sunroof
Standard 17s
Premium Audio
Window Tint
Rear electric windows
Alarm kit (and independent wheel alarms which I bought separately)
Mats to front and rear
Scuff plates
Paint and interior protection
Tyres half worn
Brake pads 10% worn according to mechanic but I am sure it would be more
Rego until May 2005
Currently 19 600km
Really good condition.
Anyway, that's it. Any opinions? Here is a link to the Showrooms thread where there are two pics taken of it a week ago. It's post 434.
Ive attached what Redbook.com.au say but that is for one with no options etc, and I know yours is in excellent condition..... If me getting an XR8 becomes too hard (insurance etc.) i may be interested in yours, if you decide to sell.
Bout $29,000 to $31,000 is all it is worth now, come early next year probarly about $25,000 - $26,000 at the most.
Worse part about XRs now is that fleet buyers are buying more of them then the standard XT, therefore there are HEAPS of them at the auctions with less then 20,000 kms and less then 12 months old. Most of them sell for about $29,000.
Two weeks ago at Pickles in QLD they had a Venom XR6 Turbo Auto Sedan with 19,000 kms for $30,300 including GST, so as you can imagine that has got to hurt NA prices.
Dealers arent going to pay anymore then that for them regardless of options, at the end of the day they make all their profit on the trade in so you probarly better off selling yours privately then giving yourself some bargining power on the next car you wish to aquire. Sell it privately and get about $34,000 - $35,000.
Before I bought my GT-P in May 2004, I got opinions as to what my AUII XR8 220 was worth. It had leather, premium sound, side skirts and premium brakes. 50,000km on the clock.
Many said low 20's for a private sale. Some even said 18-19k trade. Others still believed options were worthless based on what dealers have told them.
First offer on the trade was $25,000. I then haggled him up another $2k.
Goes to show you need to take these estimates with a grain of salt. Just because someone would only pay X for it, doesn't mean X is the market value.
A friend of mine bought the XT sports version earlier this year and paid $33k including on-road costs. No options and was an ex demo with 5,000km on the clock.
Given the condition of your BA, low km's, the options, I’d say $30k at least as a December sale. $35k for a private sale is not unrealistic.
It's definitely worth considering a sale before the release of the MkII. Remember, you won’t attract nearly as many buyers between early December in the lead up xmas through to Feb. If you sell the beast tomorrow for an extra $3000 than what you would get for it in December, you'll still be ahead given you can get some great deals for long-term car hire.
Dealer in Adelaide is selling them for $35,000 new.If it was me I would start at $34,000 and come down to $30,000 or $31,000 for a serious buyer.Would be interesting to see what a dealer would give you for trade in.
They generally say that you loose $3k as soon as you drive it from the dealers - other than that it may be difficult to sell due to the low Kms - usually when I see a new car for sale second hand with low kms the lemon warning metre hits the roof.
