how similar do BA and VY look

it has been mentioned a number of times before, but the picture on the www.drive.com.au web page show how similar the BA and VY are in looks and proportions from the front. hell, both manufacturers are also believed to have similar adds both filmed in NZ. is there something strange going on here
luckily the BA has a nicer rear end

I have also noticed this. In the latest edition of NZ Autocar, there are identical shots of each and you can see the similarity.

Should make it interesting.

They look very similar and I suspect many non-enthusiasts will have trouble picking the base models apart.

But this has always been the case - it was with EA vs. VN, XA vs. HQ and so forth. Cases like XK vs. FB or AU vs. VT are the exception.

"Look at the cover of wheels, they look completely different!"

NeoXplod, those are the SS and the XR6 on the cover of wheels, and yes they are going to look different. there was no way holden was ever going to do a quad-headlight look and no way ford was going to stop doing a quad-head light look. this would have been devastating for either brand in terms of public relations.
i was refering to the regular falcons such as that pictured on www.drive.com.au. if you look through that edition of wheels you will notice some front end similarities between the two.
also, take a look at the rims of the ss and XR6 on the front cover of wheels and tell me if they are not similar. only difference i can see is the location of the nuts and the outer rim.

We only have ourselves to blame... Ford and Holden designers are frightened to do anything even remotely interesting after AU reaction... If they looked any different we'd all be saying how ugly they are...
Even VY rear is too much for some people. Oh well, I'm sure this means the next Commodore and Falcon will look even more alike.
