How will BA do against the AU - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Now that we have a good variety of exterior, interior & engine shots, we are in a pretty good position to guage how well we believe the BA will do.

Up to now however, the majority of the FF members are doing comparisons against the VY which isn't even out yet.

How about in the interest of fairness & accuracy, we guestimate how well the BA will do against it's immediate replacement, the AU. Let me get the ball rolling with some questions :

o sales - how quickly will the BA sell & how long will it take to overtake the AU? If it's as good as everyone says & considering the AU has been out for 3 years, the BA should take a lot less time to reach similar figures

I don't think the BA will overtake any sales records. But it will eclipse AU (sales/month) quickly, although I wonder if there will be a 'hangover' from the poor styling of the AU and the discounting that came with it. Its Commodore competitor, despite the fact we know little about it, will not give sales away like the AU did to the VT.

I can see Commdore being the top selling car for 12 months (at least) into the life of the BA, while BA finds its feet in the market. Although for the first 12 months of BA, Holden will be fighting with its old Buick motor... so who knows?

After that I imagine that we will return to the days of old where Ford and Holden regularly exchange the title of top selling car every 1,2, or 3 years. It will be a very even fight. I look forward to "competition improving the breed".

Seeing what is happening at a couple of Ford dealers, BA will rip roar into the market. I think AU2/3 will be great buying value though.

I think we will see alot of people buying BA's that in the past would have gone for things like 200sx, WRX etc. The XR6 turbo in particluar seems to be attracting buyers that have never bought such a car.

A sales manager I know at a Ford dealer has pre-sold his first month allocation of BA's.

Even taking the Turbo and few extras in id say under 45k is very crucial and with any luck closer to 43k. Current VCT is about 41k.

I just hope Fords building capacity is high so to meet as much sales as possible and not be restricted due to this.

Now that we know the XR8 will not be released till early 2003, what impact will that have on BA sales?

Also, will this delay see the BA lose clients to the SS which will be on the market straight away?
