I love the older Fords because the sound better and look better, plus they had that GT badge. I like new Fords just the older ones still kick Holdens arse. Ford can only gain race cred by bringing back the GT and wining the mount.
I live in Bathurst and it's hell if Holden win. I my TAFE class I'm the only Ford supporter out of 12 people, they either follow Holdens or those Plastic pieces of shit from Japan. The GT must come back and mustn't be a half hearted approach, it need to be more powerful than any holden (330 should do it), sound like a V8 should, look the goods, and come with the coupe option.
The Mount is the Ultimate race, this is wat makes sales this is the heart and soul of Austalian V8 supercars, sure I love ford to win every race but it aint possible with the likes of Tom Walkinshaw who can instruct 3 teams, that came into effect last round when greg murphy had to give way to mark Skaife when Ambrose was leading. Next year he can only have one team that will be HRT. So Ford might actuly win without other drivers slowing them with early braking and blocking tactics.
In the old days they raced cars virtually off the showroom floors but as I'm sure you are aware these days there is very little in common between the race cars and what you see driving around the street. I agree that Ford need some ballsy cars again, they have the T-Series cars with 250kw 5.6lt stroked Windsor, that is a good start, hopefully things will look much brighter when the AV comes out later this year. Ford also need to get some wins on the racetrack, things are definitely looking better here lately thanks to Marcos Ambrose and Craig Lowndes. A cynical person might say that AVESCO (the crowd that run V8 Supercars) have formatted the rules are biased towards Holden and that is part of the reason Fords having been doing so well as of late.

Don't you mean that is the reason that Ford is not doing so well of late???

good question... for the enthusiast i think race success means more.... we already have the superior handling car.
For the average Joe i think we need road image more. road image gets more butts into fords i reckon.
