Iam looking at a EA Fairmont Ghia thats done 326000Kms. The head was done 10000Kms ago. Asking price is $2000. Is this a good buy? Are the kays too high? I dont mind having to do work down the track. How many kays has your car done???

My car had 231000 when I got it 3 months ago. Paid 4k for it.

Was a EA S-Pac CFI 5 Speed then. Was pretty good condition.

1990 EA Falcon with 318000kms on board and it still drives like a new car
although the engine was rebuilt a little while ago due to over-heating ( previous owner )

sounds like a good price...but what is the rest of the car like?

I got my EA CFI 5sp manual wagon yesterday for $2500. It had done 120,000 k's of almost exclusively highway driving (from Yorketown to Adelaide) and been serviced every 3-5000 k's. I'm very happy with it.

240000 never missed a service.... since 150000 its been done every 5000.

Assuming the average kilometres travelled by a car each year is 25000, that EA Ghia has done 13 years worth of travelling. Seems about right to me!

Our EA has done 340000kms so far, still going strong. It travelled 100000 kay in it's first year with only one dealer service. It was a country police car.

Around 175,000 in my case, roughly 5,000 of which I have done since November 2000.

My NA has 280,000, but the heads cracked, so I cant justify wasting $1000+ on a head for an engine nearly at 300000, so ill throw it out and get an ED engine instead, for cheaper, or the same price as the head replacement on my NA. and under 150,000kms too.
