How's this for cool?

My folks were overseas a few months back (in Italy) and this is what they told me about a new program the government was starting up.
Any person wanting to buy a new car could apply for a program in which the government would give the buyer $5000.00 to help pay for the car. This was done so people would be urged on to get rid of thier older cars (which release more greenhouse gases) and get new ones.
The only requirement was that your current car had to be more than 10 years old.
More car sales means more jobs. And "cleaner" cars means less greenhouse gases. If only the Australian government had something like this huh???

Fecking government.. I am 22 now, and buy the time Im ready to buy a home (~4-5 years min) they will have phased out the grants..

As I am pretty young Im going to be paying more GST than pretty much anyone else.. fecking suxs..

Then again I might crack a job overseas, that would be great, then I don't have to pay back my ~$50,000 hecs debt, get better pay, better conditions, knowing sydneys housing prices, I will most likely get cheaper housing as well.. come back after Ive made my million..

Government here isn't really interested in increasing efficeny or lowering green house emissions. I doubt they would ever fund such a thing. look how long its taken to get the sulfur out of desiel and that really is basic stuff..

I don't know how the TS50 is going to improve emissions. Stroked windsors aren't particularly known for excellent emissions..

If the government wanted to cut emissions they could simply fix up the coal power plants, or make our roads better or discourage people from buying big 4wd's by making them essentially tax free....

Fixing up parramatta, Windsor and a few other roads would halve emissions over night..

IPhido - hey... I bought my 1st house (the one I live in now) when I was 21. Just before the first home buyers grant was introduced!!! GGRRRRRR

I guess I shouldnt complain... been here for 2 years now, and the place is worth $85k more than I paid for it.

I think in japan you can pay big $'s and drive it as a antique if it can be classed as that (ie not some crappy kia hatchback)..
I know there were some R31 Skyline drivers still in japan.

Man that fecking sucks about the house grant thing.. Thing is you know there are heaps who are scamming the system...
