"HSV BREAKS FIVE SECOND BARRIER"
As you can see from our photoshoot, the gods where not kind with Melbourne weather, hence our slightly slower than expected acceleration times in the clubsport -the first manual gen4 powered car we've run on the correvit. But on a hot day in Sydney, an auto GTO coupe simply shattered what we thought was possible from an Aussie-built muscle car. Admittedly after more launches and fiddling with technique, The GTO stormed to 100km/h in 4.99 seconds, breaking the five-second barrier and beating our previous best (in an HSV GTS) 0-100k/h in 5.24 . The numbers kept tumbling all the way to the 400m mark where the HSV stopped the timing gear at 13.09 seconds with a terminal speed of 179.4 km/h. In an auto! These numbers are not out of place in the pantheon of supercars, and with more time and some adjustment to tire pressures, we reckon the big coupe might even sneak into the 12 second bracket.
0-100km/h 4.99
0-400m 13.09@179.4km/h
wow! thats bloddy quick stcok from the showroom floor! and to think these gen4's are detuned.
interesting - the coupes normally post slower times than the sedans for some reason.

Yeh I saw that in the latest Motor mag, amazing considering it's still running the 4 speed auto. Imagine what it will be like with a 6 speed auto. Yet again Ford will have to lift their game to get anywhere near that time.

This is not a Holden/HSV V's FORD/FPV article, this article clearly show's HSV's enthusiastic approach toward's the muscle car product, they are heading in the right direction and their fan's have something to look forward to, it's a pitty their oposistion doesn't see the same approach, I think FPV are relying on the success of the BA on the racetrack to win them sale's, unfourtunetly this won't happen, untill they get of their lazy arse's and show some iniative.
