Maybe they have been put on restrictions to save money.
Trouble is, you have to be seen to be heard, and as you say:

1 Ford ad. NOT the way to go.

Srife, no news i guess?

Same thing in NZ.

Holden dealers have more coverage than Ford dealers.

Both H & F dealers in The NZ Herald advertise collectively. Maybe thats why Holden sells more SS's than Ford sells XR's - H has more coverage on Saturdays, when the wife goes to the shop while husband sleeps, she buys the weekend papers, then makes unlimited coffee, and the husband sits in bed reading adverts in paper, thinking 'Holden or Ford or Holden or Ford.......' and gets brainwashed into cars that use lotsa oil, need engine rebuilds, suffer excess tyre wear and generally handle like, well 2nd rate vehicles really.

Where I am, Ford are totally and utterly kicking Holden ass.

Tonights local paper had a half page ad for the Ford dealership, half a page for Falcon/Ute etc nationwide specials, and a WHOLE page advertising the Explorer and the Escape. Nothing from Holden.

Our Ford dealer, across the road from Holden, has sold 16 XR's so far this month. They have bought up surrounding buildings and are doing the interiors at the moment. They have been open until after 6pm recently because of customers buying cars.

It's unreal how many Fords are driving around, and the best bit is our dealer is fitting the Coby exhaust to virtually every XR8 they sell, and there are also people coming in and getting it fitted to XR8's that they have already bought, which really gets people's attention and getting them interested in the Falcon.

All is well!

roll

there is more to it than poor advertising. without having seen the ad, i would ask the position, the size, colouring, appeal etc.

further, holden have a more complete range than ford.

barina v ka...no contest (the ka is not a bad looker, but woefully underpowered by an engine that is 40 years old)

astra v laser...a great looker versus something so bland toyota would be proud. add theconvertible to the range (what a looker that is!!!) and laser is kicked off the park.

vectra v mondeo...again, the vectra is the better looker and by a long shot too. sad really cos the mondeo is a very mnice car to drive. ours was just unreliable.

falcon v commodore...a sales and styling disaster for ford. the xr is a huge improvement. further ford have been continually chasing holden in the power game.

add to this the fact that ford ran without a v8 for 10 years and thus lost a lot of potential nuyers in that period.

also, as mentioned on another post, fords merchandising is non existent, whereas i can get just about anything for holden (except condoms...would be appropriate as every holden seems to have a prick inside:oo1: ).

there is so much that ford have to claw back, it isnt funny. barra should help, focus would enavle ford to go head to head with a euro car, and a nuch better one at thta, and the mondeo would also add to the arsenal. with barra, mondeo would be less likely to take sales from falcon.

ooh, and the ability to buy a bloody XR t-shirt would help.

Surely it can't be that difficult. I got mine through Ford online.
It was just too easy. Click a few buttons, enter c/c details on a secure site, some days later it arrives.
Take old shirt off, put on new XR shirt.
