I'm 20 and I just drove my 1st V8!!!

I am in love!!! My best friend's dad works for Ford and has a series 3 XR8 in Blueprint blue, having been a very good friend with them for so long I managed to convince him to let me drive it for 1/2 hour!!

What a machine!! It was a 5spd manual and drove so beautifully!!

I can't see why you'd want to buy an LS1 when you hear the sound of this!

It had only 3440kms on the clock and was the sweetest thing.

I have driven manuals for about 4 years (including forklifts) and know my way around a big gearbox, also have driven my mums SSS pulsar many times and work that thing out very nicely. But I'd have to say that this beast drove more easily and way more fun than anything I have driven before!!!!

Sorry about the rambling. But this car makes me ED so soft! I am definately getting an AU3 by the time I am 25 and out of uni for a couple of years!

Thankyou Ford for making such a beautiful car at this time so its cheap and 2nd hand when I can afford it!!!!

Brooomm!!!!

First V8 I drove was a 350 Chev in a Pontiac Trans Am. That was sweet, but the best V8 I've driven was another 350 Chev in a 69 Impala. That thing flew for it's size and weight.

my first was a 253 HJ premier, which my step dads restoring, gutless as... for now!

Then it was a 308 VN commodore, which was an absolute rocket!! This thing was an automatic, but really struggled to get traction on, even on a dry day!

well done mate, I love the AU3 XR8 to, beutiful, underrated piece of work.

The first V8 I've ever driven is my current car. I was 17 when I bought it and now I'm 6 days into being 18. It's a tame 302 Cleave in an XC. I hate the car cause it's a auto and really long for a manual. I saw this really nice EF for sale and I really want to buy it and XR8 it up to 250kW.... but alas I have to be a broke-arsed student getting $200 from work a week and having to spend $50 petrol just to boot around the 302. :dead:

Around our area mate we call the Holden 4.2L or 253 V8 the thong slapper, doesn't sound that good in my opinion.

My First V8 drive was an EL2 XR8 with some nice mods came 1 year ago thanks to Mr Sparkle. Very very nice loved the sound and the any rev range torque and smoothness of the Windsor 302.

Congratulations to those who just drove their first V8s. I've gotta tell you ED_Fairmont, that the Holden V8s are very nice too. I'm not sure but I think my first V8 drive was our old VK 5 litre with standard quadrajet. About the same time I drove a friends 327 Monaro, and dad soon got a Holden Statesman VS, fitted with a V8. I was 16 and on my learners.
To my suprise and disappointment, I never got to drive a pickup or a SUV until this year, when I am 22. That was a single-cab F-250 XLT auto 4X4 7.3 litre V8 Turbo-diesel, silver fitted with a sports bar. (Sorry if I put too much detail in there).
I'm looking forward to driving the new range of Ford V8 Falcons. The Gen III cars are nice to drive too, in my oppinion.

Yeah I know, you can always tell the difference between a 308 and 253 when at full noise. But this thing sound alright on the inside, dont think it had a standard exhaust though.

253 sounds good - it's just that lots of guys get rid of the balance pipe and that's what makes that horrible barking sound.
