I've never driven a or been in a 5L holden, but the LS1 I have ridden in an auto.

It doesn't have the same V8 feel,, infact it feels more like a straight six! But when you hit that magic number on the tacho she hollas!! and sounds the goods too.

This XR8 was like old school V8 with modern execution. Dying breed!

Thats essencially the same engine in the XR8, albeit different heads etc.

Same Block if I am not mistaken, and possibly same firing order.

The first V8 I drove was a 351 W in a ZC Fairlane (at 17) - eventually "inherited" the car from the old man when I was about 20. Still have all the running gear but car was written off in an accident - no, not me ... actually a "blind" woman did a right hand turn across the path of it while my grandfather was driving it one night.

My first drive of a V8 was my XD Fairmont Ghia 351.

LSD and 235 rear tyres. 2 black marks sideways up the road.

I still love and have that car!!

Driven many V8's in my time (21 yrs old) but my favourite is the one I'm still driving. '82 XE Fairmont Ghia ESP, 'warm' :) 5.8L, 4 Speed Top Loader...only got the stock 4 pinion 2.92 gears in it, but still can lay rubber into second gear from the spot :)

First V8 I drove was my old XC when I was 18. Bought it on the spot and had it for 14 years.

If anybody would like to donate some $100000 to me I'd be appricated and my second v8 could be a 2002 BA GT :s6: I'll wake up any second now haha!

I really want to put a WORKED (we are talking bore, stroke, the lot) 302 into an XP... I have a XP but I want to keep it original. Man will that baby fly!
