Stress management
Treatment for attention disorders
Works connection is faster so it take less time to be online. I save money therefore I am happy. If I am happy I work better.
Being in a role where I'm constantly self-learning, I can't do it 8 hours straight. FF is one way of giving myself a mental break. Lots of literature around claiming you should have 30 min breaks every two hours, though I like mine more regular/shorter.

If you're doing something that's repetitive, boring or just plain old stressful then jumping on the web can be a great way to relax for 5-10 mins.. Read the paper or visit FF and give your brain enough time to recharge and then get back into it..
Like Ian said... A happy worker is a good worker.. :D
If you work in a dark room in the basement, Like I do, Start work before the crack of dawn and go home way past 10.00 and your only interaction is FF, then Damm it helps keep my sanity!!!
I need to relax and thought KarmaSutra.com was a stress management and meditation site.
Playing the game Nascar 4 on the work PC, stops me getting RSI and actually saves the company money by not having to pay for my workers comp. claim.
Reading FF during the day stops me from going insane and testing out the gravity therory. Which is to find out which item, dropped from the 35th floor, would hit the ground first. A PC minus the monitor, or a boss, minus a parachute.
I need an anonomous work computer to order my porn off.
Hope these help.

I cna give you heap of reasons not to, as work have given us many a dressing down on this subject.
The main points of contention are virus.
closely followed by loss of productivity.
Locking up their server as I found out it is easy to do although it wasn't my fault.
On the last training session we were made sign papers where we agreed that use of company PCs for private internet us was instant dismisal ground.

Being in charge of a couple of people here at work, I make a point of telling them not to use the internet for personal use (yes I'm a hypocrite :D ) during normal work hours. But they can go nuts (within reason) during their breaks and after hours if they like. But we also do monitoring of sites visited and external e-mails, although all the staff are aware that this takes place.
On the other hand, my girls work, have as part of the employee contract, that they are not to use the internet for private use at all, nor send private e-mails, or even to take personal calls unless an emergency, with instant dismissal being the result.
