If you can make the Rotary sound different to what it does then maybe I'll think about it,but I dont think it will ever sound any different to that wankel sound so therefore I dont have to think about it, FEW, thank god for that.

How about the 20B Triple Rotary Turbo? 220+kw/390Nm from 2000rpm and 400Nm from 3000rpm to 7000rpm.
Who says rotors have no torque?
Propelled the 1600kg Cosmo to 14.1sec 1/4s
Thought about dropping one of these in an EA Falcon! Be an ultimate sleeper!

Errr, Ford sorta have a rotary. As Ford owns Mazda, word on the street says that if the Renesis Rotary of the RX8 fails to deliver - either sales, performance or reliability wise, then FoMoCo will shelve the rotary engine altogether.
+back in the early 70s holden used to export some unassembled kingswoods to Mazda in Japan for an exec car for japanese businessmen. They whacked a 12a (I think) in it and called it the Mazda Roadmaster. The thing had barely enough torque to get up hill.
+ also, given a rotaries fuel efficiency (or lack there-of), its certainly the kind of motor you dont want to see pushing much over the 2L mark......
