Hey guys,

I got the phonecall today, "..your loan has been approved".
Come Christmas-Eve I'll be picking up a brandspanking
new white BA XL ute, 4L 5speed manual with Flexi-Glass
Canopy (with side barn-windows).
I'm stoked !!! Please forgive me for my previous mistake,
*cough* VR Clubsport *cough*, which is costing me a
fortune in insurance and is basically falling to pieces.
I am now back in the blue oval and promise never to defact to the darkside ever again. As soon as I've picked it
up I'll post some photo's.

I'll keep you all updated.

Van was in the market for a new car. At the time a good EL XR8 was hard to find and more money than the VR HSV that happened to arrive at the time. The HSV appeared to offer good value in terms of specification levels, as you would expect so the decision was made. Have I recalled the circumstances correctly Van?

Anyway very pleased to have you back in a FORD, although my feeling was that you never left, just simply trying on a different pair of shoes so to speak.

Thanks guys, I'm happy to be back & CDAA; your spot on.
I was losing too much money on the Clubby and paying too much
($3000) insurance on the damn thing plus I got bored driving it.
I've just been offered a job tiling for the housingstrust as a sub-
contractor. And since I was in the process of buying a car, I
thought the best option would be to buy a trade-vehicle. I had
previously testdriven and almost signed up for a Zetec Focus.
My life is definately moving in the right direction, I've got a
brand spanking new car, a new job, a beautifull girlfriend for 6
months and I'm back in the blue oval. Woo Hoo !!

P.S. : Does anyone know 1/4 mile and 0-100 times for a
5 speed manual BA XL ute ? Cheers.

I'm glad you had a change of heart and realised what you had been missing all this time!!

I don't want to start a slagging match of any type, but can I ask what actual problems you experienced with the Clubby?

Same problems you get with any other car that's ten years
old really, discrotors that feel like the himalayas, noises
from the clutch, the uni's were on their way out, the heater
control-button broke off. Dings and dents and stonechips.
One dent was from my girlfriend playing golf near the car !

The car is starting to loose it's value quite rapidly and it
would cost me a fortune to fix up all it's dilemma's.
And for basically $20 a week more over 5 years, I can
drive a brandnew car around which is cheaper on petrol,
rego and insurance...go figure. Not only that, I will be
able to claim most of the payments/insurance/petrol back
at the end of the financial year on tax.

BTW, can some recommend the best way to drive a
brandnew car ? Drive it hard or take it easy ?
