Well how exactly do you start a thread like this.......
Growing up in a remote mining town in the North West Pilbara taught me all the things I needed to know, from defending yourself when some hard asshole comes at you with a smashed bottle, to running away from the police in the middle of the night.
Sure Ive seen somethings Im not proud of from Street brawls to some SOAB beating his wife & kids.
My parents were fortunate enought to be able to buy us anything we wanted but at the same time if we stepped out of line by geez we copped it.
Im the unfortunate type of guy that WILL act before somebody starts something, like most of us are , in this day & age we dont take chances nor am i stirred by the injuries i may cause when defending myself.
But now i have kids.....
Ive watched my Eldest lad with great joy the last few months, he's just over 2 1/2, the things he says & does brings great joy .
Today he was running as usual and tripped over grazing his knee & ripping a small chunk out of his big toe, the look on his face with the tears nearly ripped me to bits..
I know most of you people here have children some of you will have had or nearly have the kids leaving/left home..
I remember my childhood but i mostly remember my Mum & Dad as my kids will remember me....
Do they really have to grow up.......

Don't worry Brett, when my little brother & sister were babys/toddlers (they are now 5&6) i was extremely protective of them.
I rememmber once when my little brother rolled of the couch why my cousin was changing his nappy, I went off my rocket at her, and was just about in tears as if i was sharing his pain.
I don't think your getting soft mate.
Your just being a good dad
Brett, for what it's worth. Our kids have had the same injury's, form cuts to broken limbs. I think they get over it before we do as we feel so helpless and young bones heal quick.
Been to hospitals from Princess Margeret to Newman and Hedland, dealing with things just like yours.
I'm like that with my dogs so having genetic ties must be even more extreme. I made life hell for a guy who kicked my dog once - imagine if it was one of my children! He'd be permanently maimed for sure.
