Impulse buying

We went to a gala dinner at Crown Paladium last night for the lighthouse foundation. Being a charity dinner, they auctioned off several items to raise money.

Within about 15minutes, one guy bought an MX5 turbo for $45k and another bought a lease on a racehorse for $100,000.

I don't know about you guys, but I couldn't imagine going out to dinner and spending $100k just like that!!

Just wondering what are the biggest purchases you've made on an impulse?

Re: Impulse buying

If I had that kind of money, i would buy heaps of crazy stuff, especially if it was in aid of a charity.

Re: Impulse buying

Hmmmm, well I’m actually banned from going to auctions. I’ve picked up some crazy stuff in the past like the complete Tickford sign and wings that used to be on the front of the Tickford building and a $150 car detailing voucher (what the bloody hell am I going to do with that) from our last FPV & XR Club auction.

The funniest thing I’ve ever brought was absolutely nothing. That’s right, absolutely nothing. You can’t drive it, drink it or touch it, it’s just nothing and it only cost me $170 which I consider quite a bargain when I think about how much I’ve paid for absolutely nothing in the past. It’s amazing what you’ll buy when it’s for a good cause.

Cheers, Danny

Yeah but that $100,000 to him is probably like $100 to people like us, plus it's all tax deductable, being donation's to charity. good on em, I say.

Re: Impulse buying

How many tubes of glue would it take to pay back 100 large?

Cheers, Danny

Re: Impulse buying

I went out to my local ford dealership to buy a t-shirt, spare parts was closed for the day, so I spent some time walking around the car lot.
3 hours later I drove home in the AU.

The strange thing about this is I was not looking to purchase a car at the time at all. It just sort of happened!

I never Impulse buy. And when I do, it's usually pretty big by my standards.
