insurance

I know its not the place to talk about it but this is where all of you guys hang out. And its that time of the year when it time renew to renew my insurance policy.
Tell me if this is right for a premium of $2925, for driver 25 yo with 7 years experience no accident/violation, medium risk suburb agreed value of car at $31750. Standard car with 40% NCB.

Premium last year was $3.3k and I accepted that as I was under 25. This year should have been a lot less as over 25-expecting to pay just under $2.5k but doesnt seem to be the case.
How much is yours like??? Like some input as I want to compare if NRMA is trying to rip me off.

G'day slow.

Well, until July last year, I was living in Wahroonga with my baby, and paying ~$1700 after the 50% NCB (23 y.o). As far as I know, Wahroonga is one of the lowest risk suburbs around Sydney, so this might affect the price a little.

However, I think the price on yours is a bit steep for a "medium risk" suburb, considering you're now 25 and the premium on 6's is less than 8's. What model is yours? EF/EL/AU?

In general NRMA have been pretty cheap for me, but obviously not for everyone. I'd be asking for a breakdown of the policy price if I was you.. or shop around. Seems steep.

Let us know how it goes mate.

Mike

I use GIO after NRMA tried daylight robbery!!
Im 25 with Full NCB agreed Value on EL XR8 with full options (body,sunroof,etc)($34000)
and i pay about $1200. I live in Newcastle which is cheaper to insure than Sydney. I am expecting mine to come down as well!!

Hi,

$2925 sounds a bit steep for your car.
I am 23, and I have my ED XR8 insured with NRMA for agreed value of $25K (it has a 'few' mods) I have a 30%NCB (1 accident just over 2 years ago which I was blamed for even though I was stopped at the time).
I currently pay $2956 ($246 a month).

My BF has his EF Fairmont V8 wagon insured with NRMA (26y.o 30%NCB $23K) costs $2600. His is a bit high (and he cant pay by the month) cos he has finance on his car.

Thanks for your inputs guys and gals.
This gives a good argument to complain about on friday. Cause I was expecting really about $2.5k which I have calculated and thats a worst figure estimate including damn GST.
Car is an AU xr6.
Car is not modified - yet.

Slow,

The other place to try is AAMI or GIO. I had same problems a few years ago (then 26 y.o)when looking at a Rex (say it fast and it doesn't taste as bad). NRMA was in the $2000+ mark, AAMI came down to $1250 with 60% no claim. I got smart and went the blue oval. Don't look good with hats on backwards.

Pays to shop around, there may be an insurance deal going through one of the motoring web sites or a comparison type chart for the various companies.

G'day Slow XR6

I now have an AU XR8 and the premium for a year with AAMI is about $1,200 prior to this I had an EF XR6 and it cost me $1,100.
As I mentioned I'm with AAMI, I have spent a lot of time ringing around for the best deal and no one could match AAMI. Also when I insured with them they gave me an extra 10% on my No Claim Bonus. They are worth contacting. Call them on 132244. I was with NRMA but I gave them the flick.
Good luck!

Hi BIGD

For you to get insurance with AAMI you must be old(30).I'm 27 and had 60% no NCB with AAMI on my nissan sss but when I got the XR8 they would not give me insurance till I turn 30 so NRMA is only $1,013.45 till 30 then it drops but I here that AIM in VIC could be better.
