I own a Series II TE50. When i purchased it one year ago, i insured it through Ford Insure for roughly $1000 full comprehensive.
The policy renewal is now $3105!!!!!!
Im rating one with no claims, no speeding fines, no nothing and the policy has tripled!!!!!
Several of the major companies dont cover TE's in general so im not finding too many alternatives. Can anybody recommend an insurer?
NRMA. They'll do me for $3500/year on an AUII TE50 (that's dad put down as owner and me just as driver).. and I'm 16. You could get back to $1k/year with them.
Perhaps try Allianz or QBE. I was with Suncorp (BA NA XR6) and first year was $880. 2nd year they went for me for a grand. Looked around, got $500 at Allianz. QBE are also good.

Thanks for all the advice. Quick update on how I went in case the info is helpfully to anybody else. It might save others sitting on hold all day like me. ha-ha.
Quick note - Some companies wouldn't insure drivers under 25. Im 28 but my wife is 24.
Allianz - wont insure TE50's
HBA - wont insure TE50's
QBE - wont insure TE50's
Just Car Insurance - $2136
RACV - $1668 including my wife, or $1480 for just me.
NRMA - $1530 including my wife, or $1206 for just me.
GIO - Wont insure under 25's. $1241 for just me.
CGU - $1112 including my wife. Or $1001 for just me.

Yes its called the honeymoon rate where insurers suck you in on a good deal and undercut their premiums to get you in before jacking them up again. NRMA doesn't do it although is pretty consistent with when it does hike up rates. Some of their competitors do.
I hear you on the pricey T series. I wanted to get a pursuit ute. Yay 3000+ premium for that sucker.
Try the specialist insurers - Shannons, Vigil, Dawes, Torque, Just Cars etc or an insurance broker.

So CGU it is.
Glad thats over.
Make sure you check out the excess on these quotes.
The NRMA quote might be a few hundred more, but usually the excess with NRMA is lower than others.
