I've done a search but after poring thru the results for ages I hadn't found what I want to know, got frustrated and figured I'd just post an enquiry.
What I'm after is simply a company that will insure my car with all the mods I have - up front and ridgy-didge.
- I called one company that is supposed to be specialists in modified vehicles but after reeling off the list of mods (heaps of aftermarket suspension bits, cam, head + intake + computer off different models of cars etc.) they turned around and said thay don't class it as "modified" - ??? - SGIO would have a bloody fit if they knew what was really in the car and of course I'm running the risk of losing out completely if I do have a prang and the assessor wakes up to the gear that's not on my policy (I made an "anonymous" enquiry to SGIO about up front insurance of my mods - and the person I spoke to made me feel like a bloody criminal - I got the feeling that if they knew where I was they'd send the cops!!!).
Anyone know an insurer that fits the bill? - even a link to a specific thread that might have useful info would be appreciated.
Dunno about WA specifically, but those gimps at JustCars should insure you ( I say gimps, cause their ad's are )
Also, surprisingly enough, suncorp metway were fine with whatever mods i wanted to do, as long as they were notified and it was or course legal. This totally surprised me ( them being mainstream and all ).
Both companies were around the $2k mark for 25 yo on max no claim, no incidents etc etc, with suspension, cam, ecu, heads, and exhaust mods, and a s/c . . . ( for an el xr8 )
