just wondering anybody here have insurance with jci or shannons for modified cars new or old? for instance i just bought a modified cortina lowered 17 by7.5 inch wheels.would jci insure them.nrma wont insure me biggest they allow is 6inch wide?also engine mods are they allowed?
JCI allows up to 9 modifications (i think). RACV wouldn't insure my brothers car because of the wheels but JCI did. His are 17x8. His is an AU, probably different for a cortina, but basically JCI are pretty good for modified cars.

No answer on insuarence but, the biggest rim that you are allowed on a TE Cortina is 16x6. So your 17x7.5 are illegal. Did you buy it with the 17's on it?, shouldn't have passed RWC if it did. There was a X-pac or S-pac TF with 14" rims, so under VicRoads ruling the TE is ok for 16" rims, but trying to find info or proof on the TF with 14" rims is very hard as there wasn't many of them. Might have to stick with 15x6 to be on the safe side.
JCI allow for unlimited modifications. But the more you have the more they will charge. They want 5400 a year for a ba xr8 in my name and 5800 for a completly modded ba xr8.

yes i bought it with the 17s i know there illegal in nsw. also the owner cut the springs aswell not happy!your right the s pac tf came with 14s on it need to find out if the te had 14s to run 16 by 6
Im rating one. Have been for years. But JCI wouldn't insure my TE50's full stop. Either would several other regular places like RACV and AAMI. Couldn't explain to me why not either. I ended up going through Ford Insurance. Try them.
So who would be the best to go through, im looking to get mine insured, but im worried that if anything were to happen *touch wood* then they wouldnt cover me cos the cars too low. Appart from that the xr8 rims are legal size 16", and most places would cover me if i have extractors and exhaust? or not? :(

Depends on where you live and your history, rating, type of car and the mods. I have been insured for 5 years and never made a claim and JCI wanted to put me on a rating six and charge me $3500 a year for the XR6 Turbo. I got a rating 4 from ANZ and they only charge me $2311 a year with a new for old replacement, and insured for an agreed value. All this has to be taken bearing in mind I am only 22.
The downside is I can't modify it one little bit, so there goes my dreams of 330kw and 12sec 1/4s untill i can afford to change over to JCI.
