was just told by a 'reliable source' that the BA will arrive in showrooms first week October. The 'base' model XR6 will be available from that date, featuring VCT engine, other engine specs werent confirmed. The surprise (at least to me!) was the XR6 (turbo, again wasnt confirmed) and the XR8 will not be available in showrooms to the new year. Another tidbit was the the T4 being denoted as GT and GTHO (again next year before we see them). Also a 'driving day' near Wollongong scheduled early September....

My concern with GT and GTHO taking over the names from TE and TS is 1}TS {GTHO} could not afford to have the same power and be heavier and slower due to its luxuries 2}Even if TS {GTHO} is good enough to take on VX GTS it wont be good enough to take on VY GTS and there we have our most admired and succesfull name coming a poor second and therfore tarnished. Just MO.

The GT name is a marketing tool. the xt gt was underpowered compared to the hk monaro. But a GT trimmed Falcon will be a very cool thing. Bring them back as a production model. I would rather buy a ba gt than a ba te50. even if they were the same car.

im not privvy to that info, but what i could gather it was related to the current gearboxes not being up to the demands of the power/torque of the new XR8 and Turbo 6 (as well as the GT range)...

Hi guys,

This isnt the first time in FF.com I have heard rumours about the gearboxs not being about to handle the huge amount of tourque in these new engines.

If thats the case, and with the release date being as close as it is, what type of gearbox do you think they could replace it with that is available in large quantities, not a huge jump in price over the current offerings and be able to take a beating all day?
