An 18-year-old learner driver was clocked travelling at 195 kph on the Hume Highway on the NSW south coast over the weekend, police said.
The L-plater, driving a 2004 model Ford Falcon sedan, was caught in the 110 kph zone by police conducting stationary radar duties about midday yesterday at Sutton Forest.
There were four passengers in the car.
The driver, from Ormond in Victoria, holds a Victorian learner's permit and will face Moss Vale Local Court next month on charges of driving at a dangerous speed.
He has been banned from driving in NSW until the court hearing.
agreed we need to rid our roads of these damn speeding learners
i dont want the learner conditions to be reviewed
just because of a couple of nuts on the roads

i agree that this is bad and far too fast for anyone let alone a learner, but i heard somewhere that the hume is designed for speeds of around 160kmh. On a quiet day in great conditions, i think it would be fair to say that a fully lisenced driver cruising at 140kmh in a new car would be fairly safe on such a road. This would certainly be safer than driving at 110kmh in an heavily laden clapped out datsun down the same road at the same time. Just a thought, im ready to get flamed lol
At least he drove a BA Falcon, they certainly go lol
Cheers John

True, the sections of the Hume that are highways (not stoogey roads going through towns). I once had a very vivid dream (could've sworn it was real) where I experienced 170 km/h along the Hume and it seemed quite acceptable.
Havning said that, both that L-plater and the supervisor should get for their stupidity. If an L-plater wants to drive fast...play Daytona at the arcade.
