There is a rumor floating around the industry suggesting the BA's new fuel tank is causing some major last minute dramas at Ford. Apparently 6 expert Engineers from the US have been rushed into Broadmedows to attempt to fix the saftey related problem.

Firstly, does anyone know how the fuel tank has changed? Has it been relocated like on Monaro for possible US export?

...and, Does anyone know what the problem is? Are the fuel tanks exploding?? The fact that they've rushed in US engineers suggests that this might be the case, considering that there have been a few cases of exploding fuel tanks in the US...

...this is only a rumor at this stage but it is a worry...

If the tank was to be relocated to satisfy US crash test standards, that should make it LESS likely to explode.

heard the twin rotary engines are revving too much to 11000rpm way ppast the red line of 85000 giving too many kw's to put down to the ground ie. the wheels are just burning up with to much spin

and i'd like to see either a 2 cylinder or 1 in a V configurations

I heard that the Barra is so good that we have to make up stories about potential disasters.

Apparently sales will outstrip supply which will translate into long lead times to get a new car.

Its more likely a problem with manufacturing the tank. The process is being used is a new process for manufacturing plastic fuel tank, and I have heard that the supplier is having a few problems, never the less , neither Ford nor the Supplier can afford for the issues to affect the BA launch.

Can offer a conspiracy theory here though, the Fuel tank supplier is actually a subisdary of GM, maybe they're trying to scuttle the BA launch?
