Latest pics of my baby!

Well peoples, last Saturday I finally got around to lowering my baby.

Let me just say that I LOVE the result!!!

It handles SOOOOOOOO much better, and now it finally has the looks to be taken seriously on the street!

Anyways, here's the result:

That looks friggin' awesome man. Could well be the perfect height. Any details about cost, what new components are added, how low it is, or how it has affected ride quality?

Wow, that looks great Dave. When my bank account recovers I will be looking at doing exactly the same thing. I agree with you Jack, that is probably a perfect height so long as ride quality isn't compromised too much. Obviously having 16' rims helps too.

Ok, the distance it's been dropped is a complicated story...

I'm insured with RACV, who only allow a maximum of 1.25 inches lowering. But because the car is an s-pack (which, as you know, sits 1 inch lower than a gl) it means that i can lower the car 2.25 inches from standard gl height and still maintain my insurance. SO it's been lowered 2.25 inches overall (actually, it's a bit closer to 2.5 - but, shhhh, don't tell RACV!), or 1.25 inches lower than it was before....

Ok, it cost me $700 all up for parts. I used pedders sportsryder shocks and springs all round (i know Colin, the owner of pedders in dandenong, so i got it a bit cheaper!). As for labour, I did all the work myself (also replaced front pads and rotors, which were undersized - at a trade cost of $148!), so i don't really know what labour would cost...

The ride is a fair bit harser than it used to be, but is still surprisingly good. Apart from the mudflaps (which I'll probably end up removing - coz they scrape on EVERYTHING!) it doesn't scrape too often... the tyres have clipped the guards a couple of times - but that only happens when i hit train tracks at or above about 80 km/h.

My source indicates that the difference between GL and S is only 15 mm. However, Bass Crazy managed to get insurance with the RACV, so I'm thinking I'll look at something similar.

Thanks for the info
