Local call for social hault to SUVs

Here in australia growing concerns over SUVs continue to mount. Statistics over injury to the people on the other end of SUV impact paint a gloomy picture! Calles for potential owners to think about their fellow road users before they buy and consider other safer modes of transport

Its funny...I read in AW yesterday that they rolled a Jeep Liberty twice during a autocross run...didnt mean to. One more reason not to buy one.

Not sure how I feel about this one. they were calling for Government intervention as well.

Basically saying that a decison to purchase should include soem thinking about the people that could be hurt should you crash.

Don't know about you guys but I have never considered the possibility of crashing when deciding on a new car.

What ever happened to freedom of choice? If I want to buy a buzz box or a snorting grunting V8 monster then I'm going to do just that.
Does the Govt have a say in what pushbikes we buy our kids? You know the kids could fall of the bikes and hurt themselves!.. Shock Horror!! Phucking do-gooders should be shot at birth. They ruing society for the rest of us fun loving folk..

Bull bars were also mentioned and sos on and so forth. The articl pointed to the fact that the perception of SUVs(for our american friends) being safer was false

Thing is most people with a decent amount of grey matter know that anyway. God I hate the mass media pandering to do-gooders. They always look to ruin something for the little guy. Sorry mate, it just really steams me up when they talk about this crap.

Bit different to living in Tassie. I get the impression that $wds in cities such as Melbourne and Sydney are a porblem. They talked of hitting pedestrians with close to 2 tonne of unfriendly shaped metal.
1 they may have a point I don't know
2 People aren't meant ot be hit. How mwnay times have you kit your shin on a tow bar, Hands up me holdoing up both hands.
Should we ban that too?

Damn straight! I'll put up both hands and feet for kicking the tow bar! I've got permanent bruising on my shins from doing this.
