Just a quick note to any one that attended the Melbourne Holden and Ford show.
There was an individual walking around taking Digital Pictures of Vin No.'s, Rego plates and Badges.
My self and some other members of FPV/XR Owners club challanged this person and he made a quick get away.
I have taken Digital pictures of this individual and the information has been shared with the Major Crime squad of the Victoria Police today after they contacted me about it and asked for copies of the pictures.
I have spoken to one of the moderators of this forum tonight but have been asked to not to post the pictures on the forum yet for legal reasons.
All I can say is I urge you if your car was at the Melbourne Holden and Ford show be extra vigilant when and if I get the OK I will post the pics in this area and aussie falcons.

maybe a lesson for all that enter a car show? tape up your vin numbers rego plates and other tags.
sad that it has to come to this i know.
i might suggest to keep an eye out on Ebay for those cars that sell for $9000 buy it now.
they come complete with full detailed photos of the car, usually the car is either brand new or new enough to warrant a price considerably higher than $9000, and the email addy is usually xxxxxx.COM.ES which is spanish.
idea is you think great, thats cheap, heres my money....waiting....waiting....um wheres the car??
any keep checking there and set Ebay onto them as well.

Was he taking pictures of cars in the car park or the showcars that were on display? If it's the showcars, then he might be on of those goons Ford and Holden hire to spy on cars that have been modified so as to voiding their warranty. It happens, as a few might know of here. Pretty sad really that they go to this extent.
This would obviously apply to the AUII/III and BA's, as the AU's might still be under the 3 year or extended factory warranty, and almost all BA's would still definitely be under the standard 3 year/100'000 km's warranty period.
same happened at a track day i went to that bossgt orginized a guy was taking pics of plates.he was from a insurance mob.id say this bloke was to and keeping records of modded cars and if you make a claim they dont pay out.if you didnt tell them about your mods
I would say "spy", either from (insurance, dealer?)
You don't really need a vin number to steal a vehicle.
Maybe he wants to order some parts and they asked him for a vin. (joke)
Never leave anything to chance.

Congratulations. You are still alive. Most people are so ungrateful to be alive, but not you. Not anymore.
Think about it though, if you have the plate numbers etc, you can make fake ownership papers, steal the car, and do a quick sale for cash, before it is listed as stolen, just one possability for taking all the pics.
