Hi,

I have some how managed to loose the keys for my EL Falcon.

I just put them down whilst cleaning, and do you think I can find them now!! After hours of looking, I have come to the conclusion that they have vapourised.

Does anyone know how much I can expect to pay to have the car re-keyed ?
(I only have 1 set of keys!!! The dealer never had a 2nd set when he sold me the car).

Obviously, I would have to have the car towed, without keys I cannot start it! :)

you should still be able to get keys from ford. it will have to be reprogrammed and would expect maybe $1-150?? i think i enquired about an AU set a couple of years ago and thats the ball park figure they were talking. could be wrong but id suggest to ring ford and see what they think.

I had two keys cut from the Honda dealer a few months ago cost me over $245 and another $231 for two remote alarm key fobs Bloody hell i said !

depends on what kind they are, i heard on the news about a month ago, that some can go well into the thousands :( with the new thingy in the keys these days, but it should be less then $200 and maybe even nothing since you werent issued with a second set, as you should have been

Lebanese car keys are universal and will open many vehicles, they are available from most wardrobes, packing crates or dry cleaners.

A pair of cresent pliers may be handy for initial forming of these keys. These keys are so cheap they are often found disgarded on the forecourt of railway station and shopping centre carparks.

it is only an EL so a spare key wont break the bank.. Do yopu have the VIN on your redgo label? if not PM me an i can help you to get the bonnet open to read the compliance plate.. It should be less than a hundred $$ from Ford for a re-issued key..

I believe a Smartlock key from Ford is about 70 bucks uncut. Ford want a fortune to cut them though.

Remember, they will be in the last place you look!

i lost my orignal set of keys months back and bought a new remote from my local ford dealer today $88 buks for the remote, and the bloke programmed it for me. Dont know about keys tho. I know the local locksmith sells blank ford keys, so it may be worth checking a local locksmith out.

My EL Ghia keys were only about $18 - but this was to copy, not to cut. (ie they had an original to start with).

But those damn FOBs are about $88 (or so my memory serves...)

This is why you should keep a spare! I have a spare for mine at home. The locksmith will cut a copy for you for about $20. Looks like you'll have to pay Ford $$$ for a new key and remote(s). The ELs don't have the special gadgets inside the actual key like I believe the AU onwards do.
