just got a nice Ford UK brochure 1981 / 1982 today and when i opened it up, i had to double take. there, in all its glory was our very own LTD. Ford Personal Import Export were taking these into teh UK...

Anyone who has ever driven over there would agree that the car would be nice on te motorways, but try parking one of those in a town car park. forget it. and they brought in the 5.8 litre V8...with english fuel prices...

wonder how many they ever sold.

on a side note, they came with a lot of kit...air con, central locking and six way power operated seats. quite amazing for their time really.

they sold/selling the current AU series Fairlane/LTD over there as well. Dont know about hwo well that is doing, but i cant see how it can do well.

I remember seeing a picture of an '81/'82 LTD driving through London. I don't think they would have sold very well though. Is there a market outside Australia where the Falcon did sell ok?

A whole bunch of AU wagons with Fairlaine front bodywork were just recentlty sent to the UK as Funeral cars. I saw them under cover at the Laverton (melb) site of Patricks a few weeks ago. on some enquiries I found out they were UK bound.
