WELCOME TO WHEREVER YOU ARE
bravely sponsored by
Mushroom Pictures
First Sydney screening of a new feature documentary, WELCOME TO WHEREVER YOU
ARE - an entertaining road journey celebrating the Mad Max mythology.
The film documents five guys in search of the Grail-like remnants of Mad
Max's Interceptor road machine, culminating in a unique insider's view of
the infamous Nightwars at the Annual Bathhurst V8 Supercar race. This
after-hours crash-and-burn event is like the cultural "feral kid" spawned
from the Mad Max films.
A band of vibrant, young Mad Max enthusiasts, inspired by the recent
unearthing of Max's original Interceptor outside Broken Hill, build their
own unregistered and unroadworthy Interceptor replica. They drive the
Interceptor replica across the desert interviewing locals about Mad Max
recollections. They also encounter various outback perils which involve the
police, vehicle breakdowns and their own version of cabin fever. Finally,
they end up at the Doughie Pit and Burnout Boulevard at Bathurst, where they
document the never before seen Nightwars.
After the screening, meet Krusty, Bear, Deano, Heathyboy and Grub - the five
foolhardy filmmakers from Bendigo's Fatal Impact Productions (four are
psychiatric nurses and the fifth's a butcher). Fatal Impact Productions has
also produced three features over the last decade (FREEDOM DEEP, THE LONG
LINE and RANKO).
