Re: Manual or Automatic

Too close to call for me as it depends on the car.

Lots of torque = auto
Lots of revs = manual

I hate autos in cars that require heaps of revs to get them moving, and I think a manual is a waste in a car that has enough torque to sit in "D" all day & just chew up the miles.

Re: Manual or Automatic

Easy, manual.

I hate the mere idea of an automatic transmission in an Escort - that would ruin a car that has the potential to be a lot of fun!

Re: Manual or Automatic

Given this scenario of only one car, I'd have to go manual on this one - to me auto is like flying an Airbus as opposed to a Boeing, and I don't like Airbus.

Re: Manual or Automatic

AMG don't make any manuals. They have a five-speed tiptronic auto and a seven-speed manumatic.
