Re: Manual or Automatic

who needs a clutch, just get a trans brake for a auto, does the same thing, without the wear

Re: Manual or Automatic

Where does the sequential fit into this argument?

Does sequential fit into manual or auto... I had the pleasure of driving a sequential and I vote for it. Nothing else comes close.

Re: Manual or Automatic

Well, I don't really mind which one, as long as I get there.
But seeing as the missus can't drive a manual, we've had autos for over 12 years now and come footy season the auto was a god send especially when I had leg injuries.

Re: Manual or Automatic

The way I see it... it does depend on the circumstance..

I want a manual though... I love manual driving. I've driven autos for 2years or so now and I really do prefer manuals (it seems to feel less floaty)

i hear you there!! my family has a peugeot 405.. and it's power range seems to be from about 3000rpm upwards... but the bloody automatic changes gear just before it gets to there. it waits forever to kick back a gear, boggin the car down before it finally gives in. you have to basically floor it to make it kick back at a decent time.

manual for me thanks

When an auto can take off as fast as my manual (ie be able to build up revs first), when an auto can use as much fuel as my manual, when an auto will do what you tell it to instead of always second guessing, when an auto weighs as much as my manual, and when an auto is as much fun to drive as a manual - I will buy one. Until that day I will reserve them for women and the lazy ;-)

Re: Manual or Automatic

Autos are for poofs! Sequential shifts are for poofs who haven't come out yet.

Pity I'm a luxury whore and I'm stuck with the auto for the time being. There's nothing more fun than slamming through the gears right on redline.
