Re: Manual or Automatic

Manual for me (see my sig).

Autos are boring, its not real driving and I found the manual surprisingly good on the drag strip. I dont think I would have gotten a better time in an auto.

I have a broken left foot, I drive in peak hour traffic nearly 2 hours a day, and I have driven in peak hour traffic in most of our capital cities. I would never have an auto, regardless.

I find the manual fine for cruising. If you are cruising out in the freeway or highway at 100kmh or more, what difference is it if you are in top gear in auto or manual???

Theres nothing worse than an awesome engine or exhaust note in a car thats being hammered, only to hear that auto gear change.... YUK!

And small cars should be illegal in autos.

they do have a clutch. Its just that they dont use it on the down shift, only up shift. (or is it the other way, I mean from 1st to 2nd to 3rd etc no clutch needed)

Re: Manual or Automatic

I have never come across an automatic gear box that didn't remove from the whole driving experience. I can't stand them. Perhaps they are fine if you drive your car like a grandmother, but I will always prefer manuals.

P.S. No offence intended to all you drag racers out there. That's one area where clearly an auto with a big stall rules!

Re: Manual or Automatic

The Auto in the XC was good, not as good as the 5-speed though!
The EF was a very nice mixer, a sham I had to lock them up and leave them for 3 years whilst I'm in Scotland.

It's been snowing here all day.
