cool matching numbers on classic mustangs

I am about to enter the world of classic car (Mustang) ownership, but I need some educating on how to identify matching numbers to ensure I'm getting the original car I want. I'm looking at some 1969 Mach 1's and GT's and would appreciate any helpful hints on how to locate and validate the ID numbers.

Have you found info yet msprague. If not tell me what you are after and i will try my best to answer it. Plenty of info on the car can be gained from the VIN and door data tag.To be sure all the parts are original is more involved.Sometimes you will never know if an engine is original but it should fall into the correct date code.I can supply you with most codes and what they mean but as there are many of them it's prob best to sort out the ones that you are looking for.
