I reckon it'd be a pretty small list...I could fit a list of the good mechanics/workshops that I know on the head of a pin...

finding a good mechanic is often like finding a needle in a haystack. I have found 3 in the Newcastle region I can recommend fully and anyway im getting to a stage where apart from major overhauls and electrics I can do the work myself, so they cannot cheat me out of extra cash for uneccessary and or frivalous work.
I think a "vendor verdicts" type forum can be dangerous, and could lead to attempted legal action against the forums if a mechanic who has been posted about harshly was to find the forum and read what was said about his business. And there are precedents for this happening I have seen elsewhere.

But like minge suggested.. we would only post GOOD experiences. I dont see any harm in that.
The only prob I see is if someone has a bad run with a recommended mechanic. Example, one mechanic who I used to think is great is now having some mental breakdown and abusing his clients. I won't go back to him now. I'd hated to have his name in print on the internet recommending him, and have someone else have a raw time with him.
But in essence, I think if you are confident of whom you recommend, then a list would be ideal. And names can be taken off too if a problem arises.
