G'day all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a recommended auto electrician in Melbourne, preferably the south-eastern suburbs? I've been through a couple so far but all end up trying to rip me off. The most recent was a $100 quote to tighten 2 bolts.

I just need a thick battery cable to be extended and a new terminal attached. Doesn't sound like a job for the common soldering iron.

I don't think I'm ready for an asylum just yet.

But the battery cable is very thick and I don't even think I have a tool to cut it let alone solder. My temporary home job nearly left me strandard last night so I'd better do something.

most mechanics can do a simple job like that..i took mine to one to get a new negative batt terminal put in. it costed me like 10 bucks

I don't even remember. I bought a new battery which had the terminals in a different position, and one of them is a really tight stretch and the terminal on the cable is too big for the battery. I just need to extend that cable and put a smaller terminal bit.
