For all living in Melbourne the first one of the new hi tech speed and red light cameras in 1 is in operation at the intersection of Dandenong and Orrong roads i have read and seen pics of in todays Herald Sun.

They must have more speed cameras in Vic than any other state? You wouldn't mind so much if the money went back into roads or road safety but it just seems to go into the pollies pockets.

I emailed Peter Batchelor (Minister of Revenue, oops, I mean Transport) a while back asking what new safety initiatives would be funded from the increased fine revenue, not surprisingly I didn't recieve a reply.

Yeah this is the first of fifty of these which are flashless so ad these on to the expanding no of fixed time lap speed cameras, tons of red light cameras and mobile units and yes Victoria is crawling with em. If they were serious about safety it would go back into roads. Makes for good super though!:fmad:

Dont know whether its these or others to come but some are so advanced they go through fibre optics and print the fine themselves at head office.

NSW has a few years head start in terms of numbers but I think the 'tollerence' in VIC is a lot smaller than NSW.
They probably got jealous of the NSW 'Tax' & thought they should catch-up!!
