Always has been and always will be Merry Christmas as far as I am concerned . Why should we change it to appease the minority ? If they dont like it , tough . Too soft with the pc brigade , time we stood up against them and made no more concessions .
Well it looks like hands down we need to get back to the "Reason for a Season".
I don't know how we have allowed it to get to this state...But every time someone wishes me a "Happy Holiday" I look them straight in the eye and say..Don't you mean "Merry Christmas"?
Hell the other day I was dropping a 5 in the Red Bucket for the Salvation Army...and the young lady wished me a Happy Holiday...I was stunned...I looked at her and ask did she have to say that because the Salvation Army told her too, or did she just say it because she felt comfortable with. What do you think she said? Wrong...She stated to me that the Salvation Army ( a Christian Organization) Told her that they should use that phrase.
I was outraged...I call the Local Salvation Army and talked to the Head guy...after his statement of "We ask our Bell Ringer to say that..not to offend others" I was even more outraged.
I explained that for over 40 years My family, and I have dropped 50 to 75 dollars in the Red Buckets, Donated Clothing, Time, and other donation to the Salvation Army. And that from this point on I would spread the Word about this...and never ever Donate to the One Organization, I thought was still a Christian Org. Because they have taken the Reason out of the Season....Unbelievable!!!

Scandalous !!!!!!!! Like yourself , I and all my family were brought up to respect the work the Salvation Army do and have always made regular donations / contributions to them for many years now. Is it not worth pursuing this , further up the ladder , rather than on a local level and see if you can get some satisfaction ? It's a sad indictment of the world today that this allowed to go on unchallenged and accepted by so many .

I agree...
I have always Respected the Salvation Army. They were the One organaztion that I felt Really return at least 90% of every dollar back to the community.
My Wife and I have been Ringers, Disaster Workers (even went down after Katerina) and at (an average) 60.00 x 40 Years=2,400.00 + 5 kids x (a average) of 20.00 per year =100.00 x 30 years = 3,000.00. Not to mention the physical donation of Clothing, Furniture, 2 cars.
The Katerina trip cost my family over 7,000.00 for a week stay. Plus a 1,200.00 donation for Food. And not to mention the value of the time.
So you see why I just wanted a simple "Merry Christmas".
Now don't get me wrong...I truly believe the Salvation Army will always be there for the community, and do good work...But I can see the changes coming.
