Mitsubishi to Copy Ford

GP's Legacy lives on!!!!

Good luck Mitsubishi, just don't take too many sales from Ford in the future.

Lessons for Mitsubishi's campaign
Kevin Hepworth

Mitsubishi boss Tom Phillips is planning to take a lesson from Ford to give his Magna replacement a flying start.

With the way for the new car cleared by the decision to continue manufacturing in Australia, Phillips has turned his sights to winning over Australian buyers.
"I think that was a very effective and innovative idea and we will certainly be looking at something like that," Phillips says of Ford's drip-feed launch campaign for the BA Falcon and Territory models.

"It is a bit early for us yet as we have just received the kiss of life, but I admired (Ford Australia president) Geoff Polites for that and I have always believed that if you see a good idea you should copy it."

the only reason their sales is bad is because the new car is friggin ugly! The only reason they have an sales at all is due to fleet cars.

Re: Mitsubishi to Copy Ford

They borrowed the Commodore front end (payback for Holden taking their rear?) so they may as well borrow something from Ford.

Good luck, it's just unfortunate that the Magna is such a bad reputation so they are worth nothing when it comes to trade in.

Mistsubishi is one wierd company. The price you can buy the exact same model magna is ~40%!!! They are FWD cars in a country that loves RWD. They have poor turning circles, the styling both inside and out are disapointing, poor resale, simular quality problems to all OZ manufacturered cars, they have a car that has outlived its time.

Not that Ford OZ was in much better shape (tho everyone knew ford could make great cars they justy never seemed to appear).

Mitsubishi OZ have maybe enough talent to pull it off. Relaunch a reinvigourated range of products across the board, and a very impressive and unique Australian made model.

Then again they could dump some horrific looking imports and another dishwater local product.

I would say that looking at GP work here in OZ is a excellent start. Ford had a complete turn around, in styling, technology, costs, attitude, sales, etc etc and did it in record time.

So so true. The front end on the current Magna just looks horrible.
