confused Mobil 1 (10w-30) Where to get it???

Ok i've been running this oil in the XR and find it very good. I've looked everywhere in Penrith lately and can't find the oil anywhere. Even the Penrith Mobil distributor doesn't stock them and keeps promising "oh we'll get some in by the end of the week".

What i'm asking is, does anyone know a place/shop in Sydney or it's surroundings where they have the Mobil 1 10w-30 in the 1lt packs in stock.

Thanks in Advanced.

Saw some in the local K-Mart store of all places.
Priced at around $52 for 5 lts if I remember correctly.
I've just had a new engine fitted to the Fairmont Ghia and the workshop personell suggested I should be running 10w-30. I didn't ask why.

That may be OK in winter, but when summer comes I would go for a thicker oil.

Others may disagree.

The oil cap on my XR says to use 5W30 oil, so that's what I use; Castrol Formula R 5W30. The info on Castrol Australia's website state that this oil is specially suitible for AU XR Falcons like mine. If even 10W is too thin then why state 5W30 on the oil cap??

Gaz, aka Strider,

Look for a Mobil Signature Service dealer in your area. They stock the stuff. I always buy my Mobil 1 from East Coast Suspensions in Kirrawee. Tell them you're a club member and know me!!!!!

My oil cap specifies 10w-30 exactly the spec of the Mobil 1 i use. Remember the AU engine had big changes to the E Series in terms of piston material and tolerances. I've driven mine in extreme heat and cold and find the 10w-30 oil perfect not a rattle and runs as smooth as silk. I have heard if one uses a thicker oil in the AU you will loose performance and a create extra wear on pistons and oil pump. Keep in mind the AU pistons are teflon coated.

AP,
Looks like i'll have to visit East Coast Suspension if they stock the oil.

Re: Mobil 1 (10w-30) Where to get it???

The AU series sprecified that a "LOW-VISCOSITY" oil be used. i stock this at my workshop specially for AU's.
Valvoline sell it and actually is called LOW-VIS.Iwould highly recomend that you stick to the oil rating that the manufacturer states, i have in the years of owning my own workshop seen many engine damages accure because of people that neglect to do as they are advised by the car manufacturer unless you know exactly what your doing.

Stryder:
I can get it for you and bring it to work at Mascot if you want.
