Question Which Mobile Phone to buy?

I'm looking at getting a new mobile phone in the next week or so and was wondering if people had any suggestions of what's new, good or interesting on the market.

I'd like something with a colour screen, polyphonic ringtones and at least the ability to receive picture messages, but a camera isn't essential (I have a digital camera already). Also, this will be going on a $40 per month plan, so nothing super high end that's going to cost a motza.

My last 4 phones have all been NOKIA, so that would be my preference, and I'm not a huge fan of flip phones, but don't rule them out completely.

With all that in mind, what does everyone recommend that I have a look at?

Cheers
Jason

Re: Which Mobile Phone to buy?

Nokia 6610 - is a pretty snazy phone, have one from work, very nice, has all the features you want, easy to use, no bluetooth though, but GPRS, WAP, MMS (so can recieve pictures), Infared, Radio, Polyphonic ring tone, Games (can download extra ones), Applications (can download extra ones) can have a camera but attachment style not inbuilt.

Nokia 7250 - is what my wife got, same features as above BUT has an inbuilt camera (she had to go one better), but the navagation keys are a bit hard to use especially with a cover on.

Both have express on covers, so can make it as individual as you like. Both phones should be avaliable for 0 dollar and around 30 or so for the 6610, and i think about 50 or so for the 7250.

Re: Which Mobile Phone to buy?

Just had a look at the 6610, that seems like a good choice. Has everything I want except bluetooth, but considering how much the bluetooth car kit is, that's possibly not a bad thing.

Thanks for the tip. We Jason's have to stick together!

Now I guess I just have to decide which carrier to go for. Will I stick with Telstra or go the red card with Vodafone or something similar.

Re: Which Mobile Phone to buy?

Sony Ericsson T610! I was a Nokia man up until I bought this phone. Having had three previously. But I haven't looked back. It's got pretty much every feature you could possibly want and more. Colour screen, Polyphonic ringtones, MMS, cool games and more. It will be even better when I recieve the USB data cable and CD I ordered for it, which means 1000's of free ringtones and wallpapers.

Re: Which Mobile Phone to buy?

I have this week signed up to the B deal, $29/month with $19 included calls, over 28 months... with a 7250i. Total contract cost is a sniff over $800 which is WELL less than the Optus / Telstra $49/$55 type deals. Call rates are ok too, but the main thing is you get Yes-Time since it's Optus.

My old phone was an 8250 which I owned for 2.5 years, still going strong. The 7250i is a huge step up, and apart from a few little operating quirks it's a very nifty unit. Oh and it comes with much more onboard memory than the 6610, something like 4mb versus 750kb or so...

Re: Which Mobile Phone to buy?

I've had nothing but trouble with Nokia's so when my G/f needed a new phone (because her nokia died!!!) I got fed up and went to Sony Ericsson.
She now has the Sony Z600 flip phone.
$49 per month from B. Excellent call rates and way cheaper than Optus or Telstra.
Great phone, excellent screen, nice clear and loud ring tones and good buttons.
It's a great phone.
So good that I'll be junking my nokia for one in a month or so.

Re: Which Mobile Phone to buy?

Do Sony Ericcson have their own website, or do you just look up the Sony Australia site?
