roll The Monaro hype continues...

Holden's Monaro has been awarded two major Australian design awards.

The Monaro has won the 2002 Australian Design Award in the Industrial Design Category and a special accolade from the Design Institute of Australia as its Industrial Design Selection.

How & why ?

Has anyone sat in one, there is about an inch between my head and the roof and the interior looks the same as any other VT / VX dunnydoor.

I think that they are over rated.

it's a friggin 2-door commodore!!! *getting worked up*
if any 2-door coupes deserved that title, it would have to be the Falcon 300+ or just a regular Hillier brothers coupe!

maaan... *shakes head*

Why? it's just a 2-door falcon ... what makes it any different to Monaro (other than the fact that you can easily buy a Monaro) ...

maaaan ....

Both awards seems to be on its looks.....which I don't think much of anyways. Nothing about what's underneath, which is still CRAP, just like any other Commodore based product!!

I actually think it deserves some sort of design award. It is a fantastic piece of (relatively) low cost engineering and a great final product IMO. Ford could (& should) learn a lot from the Monaro program to be honest.

That Autotek thing looked horrible..

I think it got the award for costing bugger all to produce something that most people agree looks damn nice and has been an incredible success both in terms of sales and in positive PR for the company..
