Is it my imagination or am I seeing more really nice 'hot' Fords on the road (SA- The Holden State!!). When I had my modified AU XR8, I always felt like I was a minority in a sea of HSV look-a-likes with the exception of a few stock XR6's going around.
Since the BA has been launched I've notice alot more AU's models of all kinds with mags, body kits etc plus alot of earlier EB's up to EL's done up. Everything from big Ford logo stickers on back windows etc..
Have we all come out of hiding?? Seems like we got some new direction to be proud of.
I was thinking the same thing a few weeks ago - it is noticable that ppl aren't scared to be seen driving their Fords now.
Some of the young guys around my way are buying E series and AUs 'cos they are cheaper 2nd hand than those other things - and are then pleasantly surprised how good the Fords actually are on our rough country roads which knock the crap outa the front ends of Dunnydores.
I'm actually surprised how well a base model AU can scrub up if given half a chance. Lots going around just plain, low with 17"/18" and aftermarket front grilles.
Poor resale has meant the AU is a lot more affordable for the guys with less cash.
So if they're not mega die-hard Holden fans they can pick up an AU for the same money as a VR-VS dunnydore.
In the long run, this could help Ford by engendering a bit more brand loyalty amongst the undecided (I live in hope anyway)...

i live in sa,adelaide and have an ford logo,on my falcon hardtop.i to have seen heaps of hot fords on the road,i think people have had enoght of holdens plain jane cars.they have stuffed it up on and of the track.2004 news all holdens to race under TWR,and if any team wins like kmart then its a TWR win,but if they stuff it up its the kmart team ,not TWR.is it becaue they are under the same UNDERPANTS.

Maybe the Au could endup being the ugly duckling. Grows up to be a swan, and everyone wants one.
