It is horrible. And they will want to take away the guns, but they will continue to fight for the rights of the mentally disturbed. The ACLU ought to be disbanded and lawsuits/legal action be brought against them.
The point is, if you want to kill people, there's always a means, the bigger problem is that we let people wander the street that have no business doing so. New York City is something like 3 times the size of Chicago, but Chicago has something like 4 times the murder. The difference? The police are allowed to stop and frisk. Chicago has one of the toughest gun laws in the US, but it has the highest murder rate in the US. Texas, WV, Tn, etc., have very low murder rates by gun, yet a very large percentage of the population have guns. In Chicago, if you murder someone, a good lawyer mught have you out in less than 5 years, in Texas, yo may leave prison in 5 years, but it'll be in a pine box. It's not the gun, it's the people.
Wouldn't begin to get in a debate with any one from the USA on the subject of guns as I am aware of the strong feelings held on that subject and the number of guns throughout the country and the right to bear arms .What I will say is figures can often be manipulated to show what you want as any good politician will tell you as they are past masters in juggling figures .All I know is over here in the news and papers opinion is you have a very bad and serious problem with guns and no solution in sight .
Actually, my feelings on guns may surprise you. They are a very dangerous tool. I don't think one should be sold unless you can prove that you know how to use, maintain, and store it. I think securities of the gun should be better and that the gun should be tracked better. We do on cars, but not guns.
However, restriction of the gun is moot if we still have teenage thugs in inner cities that look at the rest of the populace as sitting ducks and they know that it's highly unlikely that they'll actually be punished for their wrong doing.
A gun is just a tool. Until we figure out how to handle the person using the tool, we will only slow them down.
