More 'speed kills' crap

Okay...open challenge to the WA Police force to answer this question. Go on...a real challenge.

Ovet the weekend, we had two seperate fatal accidents. In one of them, a father and son were on a motor bike. The 9 year old boy is in a very bad way, dad is dead. Both accidents have been blamed on excessive speed.

AND THE FACT THAT THEY WERE BOTH ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT?????

Please. Give me a break. The WA Police wander around scratching their collective heads, grunting crap like this, the poiliticians scratch their arses grunting crap like banning TV ads and buying more speed cameras cos they are life savers and all the while, people are dying. Truly, do they give a shit?

I honestly believe the cops care, as it is they who get to clean up, but are too stupid to see past their own speed kills hype. I actually think the pollies couldnt giive a flying f#*k as long as revenue is increased and their super, travel, cars etc are looked after.

When are people in charge of road safety going to actually do something? As unkind as it sounds, the sooner a pollie dies doing something stupid, that cant be blamed on speed (but somehow the cops will manage) then something might be done.

If I am pressed, I can provide a list of politicians I would like to see affected. Minister for Road Safety first, then the dumb arse cow she took over from.

I have often had the same opinions.

Q: Do they spend lots of money on speed cameras?
A: Yes

Q: Are they REALLY helping?
A: No, not really

Q: Do they raise ShitLoads(tm) of money from the speed cameras?
A: Yes

Q: Does the money raised get put into schemes for better driver training?
A: No

Thats all the facts I need to see.

I think you can work out the answer from that.

The poor NSW pollies are concerned that instead of raising 240 odd million from fixed speed cameras they only raised 190 odd million.. It must mean some people take notice of the big signs we have leading up to the cameras,,, 2 or 3 big signs with drawing of a camera and a speed limit on it.. Altho there must still be enough dumb s%^ts around who can't see... for em to raise 190 million

Look at it all this way; when the dumbass cops fill in an accident report there's a number of options to 'tick' which are entered into the database to contribute to the statistics. In the case of this accident, I bet the Police thought well the goons were overtaking or riding hard and so they must have been speeding (tick box), and then in the comments section the words 'wrong side of road' would have appeared.

So, when some butt jockey stats guy prints a report, the accident comes up as being related to speed.

Hence the phrase; "lies, damn lies, and statistics".

If I was elected into Parliament the first thing I'd push for is a revised attitude to this reporting. Change it to "direct causal factor of fatality" or similar. In this case the box marked "travelling opposite to direction of traffic" would be the statistical trigger.

Now, to all you pollies and traffic cops out there: "Get $tuffed and go $hove all that money up your ar$e and light it. You dumb u$ele$$ lowlife$" May all the blood on the road from accidents you failed to stop by concentrating on speeding revenue never be washed from your hands.

Melbourne cops have never pursued speeding so much...

and there is no change to the roll toll.

Hiding radars in unmarked cars does not change behaviour but just the amount of revenue they can raise.

As to opposed to the difference that a marked car sitting on the side of the road has on everyone that drives past - even if there is no radar or no cop inside.

If the Police and Politicians really were serious about the road toll then they would not do what they are doing now.

Just another tick box exericise that looks like they are doing something while raising cash.

Speaking of enforcing speed limits...

over the weekend i headed up to crapberra. On the way up I got laser checked at a speed that was over the limit and out of the allowance boundaries...did they bother to pull me over and give me a ticket?? No.

Why?
Cause there was bound to be someone going faster a bit behind me, and they are worth more money.

I mean i dont mind that they didnt pull me over :s4 , cause i wasnt going very far over the limit but i was over none the less.

Anyway, I guess my point is that if there is more money available, safety gets the back seat, while profit gets to ride shotgun.

MAD XF:
I suspect your speedo is optimistic. My XF Ghia was always indicating 110 when in fact I was only travelling at 103. My AU2 XR8 indicates 121 when in fact it is doing 117.

I say the Police will gain my respect, and that of others, when speed limits are REALISTIC and when they are fair by booking right lane hogs, those that change lanes unsafely, merge incorrectly, tailgate, and drive unsafe or overloaded vehicles etc etc.

Speed cameras cannot enforce these factors. Hence how can they truly be focussed on safety?

Pete: Every time I have gone through the speedo checker (4-5 times) on the hume hwy, it has come up with exactly what it was saying on the speedo.

Thats the one just out of melbourne though....The one just out of albury on the way to melb said i was doin 107 when the speedo was indicating 110.

Oh well, who knows...

I'm not gunna get all worked up about the speed stuff this time...I just cant be bothered anymore. I could go on forever but it achieves nothing, so I am going to save my energy.

That attitude is exactly what the fool politicians want you to take up. Don't give up. Write letters to them constantly and let them know what you think.
