New motor vehicle sales dropped in June, figures issued today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show.
Figures adjusted for seasonal factors indicated that in June, total new motor vehicle sales fell by 4.4 per cent.
New passenger vehicle sales fell 2.2 per cent while other vehicle sales dropped 8.3 per cent, the ABS said.
On a state by state basis, South Australia (up 3 per cent), Western Australia (up 5.8 per cent) and the ACT (up 10.6 per cent) recorded rises in motor vehicle sales in June.
The Northern Territory recorded the largest drop, down 9.1 per cent, followed by Queensland, down 8.7 per cent, and Victoria (down 6.8 per cent).
Nationwide, new motor vehicle sales in June were up 9.8 per cent in seasonally adjusted terms over June, 2001.
Hopefully (Ford Barra) sales will go through the roof in September!
